Haha! Planets are done in the Flash Solar System!

Posted by white-darkness1 - October 18th, 2007

So, mkay. I've made LOTS of progress on my Flash Solar System, and it's only been about three days since I started. I still need to add in something like 15 moons total just to get the big, important ones, I need to make the planets orbit, and I need to recenter the universe so you zoom in at the sun. I'm also going to slow everything down, and make it so when you scroll over something with the mouse, a few factoids pop up. So, hopefully, this'll give you some basic info on this subject if you ever need it. If anyone has any suggestions at all, feel free to comment or PM, I'd be happy to listen, and if I like them, throw in your ideas. Also, if anyone feels they could draw better versions of the planets, go ahead and do it, and I'd be happy to either give you credit or co- you if you'd like. You can view the demo so far by clicking the link below.

THIS IS A LINK. IT'S CLICKABLE.

Enjoy, Newgrounds. =D

That is one hell of a solar system well animated and design. A couple of things I would suggest even though it is a demo and you might release it later on I just wanna see a couple of things in there which would make it cooler.

1. Stars ( what is a solar system without stars )
2. Asteroids
3. Asteroid Field ( which is between Mars and Jupiter )
4. Events ( Maybe add some events like comets flying around or meteoroids heading towards a planet, a UFO maybe, and Space Shuttles )

Anyways that is one awesome job you've done there!

Responded to you in my thread. Go there to see what I said. =P

Don't forget the dwarf planets! Like Pluto & Ceres

Pluto's right past Uranus. I'm putting in Eris and Ceres as well.

And I don't care what scientists say, Pluto is a fucking planet.

Hey just saying maby a little more detale on some of the smaller planets just a bit more umm the zoom is realy anoying you press it and in goes right and zooms at the same time and maby the planets will be clickible like click it and i takes you to a little info box thing anyway your thing look like its going to be good.and no i dont wright with grammer spelling and puncuation i cant be botherd lol.

As I've explained, but don't mind explaining again, it's not actually zooming. I'm not using V-Cam, the controls for zooming simply resize the movie clip. Unfortunately, that means that the zoom is focused on the center point of the movie clip, which is currently located around Earth in the demo, and in the version I'm working on, around Venus. I am trying to fix this issue, however, and the submission will not be submitted fully until I improve the zooming, since it's one of the major complaints and flaws.

just so you know the moon is tidally locked with the Earth (meaning that the same face of the moon always faces the planet as it orbits.) so how you haev it animated is incorrect. just thought i'd let you know

Yeah. I'm going to improve the moon's graphics, and I'm also going to make it into separate movie clips so I can animate it properly and not have it jump at all. You have a good eye though. Good job noticing it. If you can notice it, so can others. It's definitely going on the to-do list.
